Orchestra Hall

60 min, no intermission

Symphony in 60 is a curated one-hour concert, featuring popular symphonic works paired with music new to Orchestra Hall--a great introduction for newer audiences! This bite-size concert includes extras before and after the performance, an earlier 6pm start time and the chance to mingle with Minnesota Orchestra musicians at a post-concert onstage reception.

A Few Things to Know

  1. From a Parisian park swarming with children to the towering Great Gate of Kiev, Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition is an evocative musical stroll through a gallery of paintings by Viktor Hartmann.
  2. Mussorgsky, who was a close friend of Hartmann, completed this tribute to his friend in 1874.
  3. Originally a set of piano pieces, French composer Maurice Ravel orchestrated the set at the urging of legendary conductor Serge Koussevitzky, known for his role in establishing the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
  4. Immediately after the concert, mingle with Minnesota Orchestra musicians at an onstage reception.
