The Minnesota Orchestra’s mission is to enrich, inspire and serve our community as an enduring symphony orchestra internationally recognized for its artistic excellence.
Thomas Søndergård, Music Director
Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård, the 11th music director of the Minnesota Orchestra, will serve for the 2022-23 season as the ensemble’s music director designate before beginning his new role in September 2023. In 2018 he became music director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra—a post he will hold concurrently with his position in Minnesota. He has appeared with notable orchestras in leading European and American centers, and his discography covers a broad range of contemporary and mainstream repertoire.
Michelle Miller Burns, President and CEO
Michelle Miller Burns joined the Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra as President and CEO in September 2018. Under her leadership, the Orchestra is launching a multi-year revenue growth plan that increases both contributed and earned revenue for the organization; has unveiled a new leadership model for its long-running summer festival; and pivoted quickly to launch creative digital programming for audiences following the onset of the pandemic in March 2020.
