Expressive, imaginative, and always stylish, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is an acclaimed ensemble of musicians led by multiple Grammy®-winning composer, trumpeter and cultural ambassador Wynton Marsalis. Featuring swinging arrangements and inventive musical compositions, this concert brings the jazz club experience to the Orchestra Hall stage.
The Minnesota Orchestra does not perform on this program.
A Few Things to Know
- Jazz at Lincoln Center began as a summer series at the New York City performing arts venue in 1987. Within just a few years, it became an official department of Lincoln Center.
- In addition to being one of the most well-known trumpet players in the world, Wynton Marsalis is also an accomplished composer and arranger and penned first jazz competition to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music, an oratorio titled Blood on the Fields.
- The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra has recorded over 30 live and studio records, including three holiday albums, multiple tributes and some high-profile collaborations.

Artists
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO), comprising 15 of the finest jazz soloists and ensemble players today—and joined on its 2022 Big Band Holiday tour by vocalists Dianne Reeves and Samara Joy—has been the Jazz at Lincoln Center resident orchestra since 1988 and spends over a third of the year on tour across the world. This remarkably versatile orchestra performs and leads educational events in New York, across the U.S. and around the globe in all type of venues and with symphony orchestras—including the Minnesota Orchestra in September 2022 performances of Wynton Marsalis’ Swing Symphony—ballet troupes, local students and an ever-expanding roster of guest artists.
