Volunteer at Symphony Ball

This year’s Symphony Ball: River Rhapsody, is coming up on Saturday, May 4th and we hope you will be there!  

If you would like to volunteer and help to make the Ball a smashing success, please fill out the Symphony Ball volunteer application, and you will be contacted to set up a phone interview. You can find descriptions and times for all volunteer positions here.  

Deadline to sign up to volunteer is April 1, 2024. 

To show our gratitude, volunteers will receive:

  • Complimentary parking on event night (May 4th, 4 pm and later shifts)
  • A volunteer lounge at the Hilton and Orchestra Hall for breaks, snacks, and beverages.
  • A ticket to enjoy the concert and party at Orchestra Hall once your volunteer job has been completed
  • Two complimentary drink vouchers to enjoy after your volunteer shift is complete.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways you can support the Minnesota Orchestra throughout the year. 

Concert Usher

This position welcomes and assists guests attending Minnesota Orchestra concerts with seating and questions. A warm and welcoming personality, the ability to remain in a position for several hours, maneuver a lobby with 4 floors, including stairs, and excellent communication skills are all important for this position.  (Daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities available)

Young People’s Concert Usher 

This position assists children and families attending morning Young People’s Concerts. A love of working with children, a warm and welcoming personality, the ability to remain in a position for several hours, maneuver a lobby with 4 floors, including stairs, and excellent communication skills are all important for this position.  (Daytime opportunities available)

Administrative Volunteer 

This position assists with administrative tasks for the Orchestra including mailings, data entry, scanning, assembly of items for events, etc. The skills needed for this area will vary. (Seasonal mainly daytime hours available)

Community and Special Events Volunteers

This position represents the Minnesota Orchestra by interacting with guests in a variety of ways as well as distributing information at community events including Symphony for the Cities outdoor concerts, Twin Cities Pride Festival, Open Streets, the Minnesota State Fair and more! An outgoing personality, excellent communication skills, the ability to remain in a position for several hours or maneuver differing indoor or outdoor facilities, flexibility and a love of the Minnesota Orchestra are all important for this position. (Seasonal, indoor & outdoor day and evening opportunities available)

Coffee Concert Host 

This position greets and serves concert guests refreshments prior to coffee concert performances.  The ability to follow health guidelines, be a welcoming presence and to the ability to remain in a position for several hours, maneuver a lobby with 4 floors, including stairs are all important for this position.

Coffee Concert Bus Captain 

This position greets concert guests, relays information and rides with them to and from the concert on our Coach Bus service from area malls.  The ability to be a warm and welcoming presence, gain and relay information, attention to detail and promptness are all important to this position. (Daytime opportunities available)

Do you have special skills from your education, training, or your employment? Please let us know what those are, as we may have a volunteer opportunity in that area!

Group Volunteering

If your company or organization is looking for a great way to give back to your community while building community among your staff, please contact us, we have several events and activities each year that are great for groups.  

Internships

The Minnesota Orchestra is proud to offer internships in a wide variety of areas. Interns are introduced to all facets of the organization and are involved in activities within their respective departments.
