Orchestra Hall
The St. Olaf Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra rich in international artistry and tradition and known for its enthusiastic and passionate performances. Founded in 1906, the 85-member ensemble has been heralded as one of the finest collegiate orchestras in the country, and won the 2013 and 2019 American Prize in Orchestral Performances among colleges and universities.
This concert will feature guest soloist and St. Olaf alumnus Micah Wilkinson, principal trumpet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. As a featured soloist, he has been noted for his “virtue of taming the brilliance he employs so well in many massive orchestrations to that gentle, liquid line.”
In 1981, Steven Amundson joined the St. Olaf College faculty and became conductor of the St. Olaf Orchestra, a position he would hold for the next 40 years. This concert is a celebration of Amundson's career, and the positive impact he's made on students, colleagues, and audiences across the country.
