To mark the opening of our summer season, we're offering free performances by 20 different artists on four stages in and around Orchestra Hall, including an outdoor evening concert by the full Minnesota Orchestra on Peavey Plaza. Enjoy music of all types with artists such as Lady Midnight, Salsa del Soul and more.

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre

Where: Balcony A Lobby

In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre uses water, flour, newspaper, paint, and unlimited imagination to tell stories that explore the struggles and celebrations of human existence. Come see themed displays of puppets created by HOBT artists; from large dragon masks to a collection of winged creatures!

Composition Activity

When: Sat, Jul 16 | 12 - 2pm
Where: Roberta Mann Grand Foyer

Make your own music! Come explore the entire composition process from sonic experimentation to score-making to performance in the span of 5-12 minutes with composer Adam Zahller. The sounds will be exquisite and unexpected. It’ll be serious fun for all ages!

Science of Sound Activity

When: Sat, Jul 16 | 3 - 5pm
Where: Roberta Mann Grand Foyer

Sounds are all around us, but why do they happen? Use your sense of sight, touch and hearing to observe a number of familiar and unusual objects making sounds. What happens when you strike, rub, pluck, shake, and blow a variety of objects?
