Meet the Minnesota Orchestra Fellows

Now nearing the mid-point of their two-year appointments, cellist Esther Seitz and bass trombonist Lovrick Gary recently reflected on their first year with the Minnesota Orchestra. Frequent performers at sensory-friendly events, education programs and classical concerts, Seitz and Gary have already become integral parts of the organization. In turn, their time at Orchestra Hall has had a big impact on both musicians: Seitz and Gary have been studying intensively with Orchestra musicians to hone their skills in preparation for future auditions.

Made possible through the generous support of Rosemary and David Good, with additional support from Margee and Will Bracken, the two-year fellowship began in 2017 with the intention of supporting young musicians of color as they embark on professional orchestral careers. Past fellows have since become faculty at St. Olaf College, Indian River State College, and Howard University, and full-time members of the Pittsburgh Opera, Oregon Symphony and the U.S. Navy Band. Learn more about Seitz and Gary, whose futures couldn’t be brighter.
