Lighting the Town Red (and White)
Minneapolis is rolling out a unique welcome mat for Thomas Søndergård this week as he picks up his baton for the first time as music director. In a nod to Søndergård’s native Denmark, a handful of Minneapolis venues and bridges will light up in the red and white colors of the Danish flag.
For a colorful tour of the town, check out the 35W bridge (on Thurs, 9/21), the Lowry Avenue bridge (on Friday, 9/22), Target Field (9/22) and, of course, Orchestra Hall (for all of Thomas Søndergård’s opening concerts).
Many thanks to these partners and the Minneapolis Downtown Council for this warm welcome to Minnesota’s newest arts leader.
