Get to Know the Sphinx Organization
The Sphinx Organization is catalyzing change in classical music: "in essence, the work that we do is meant to help classical music be as vibrant and representative and reflective as our communities are today," says President and Artistic Director Afa Dworkin. Our partnership with the Sphinx Organization continues to grow, from collaborations between Minnesota Orchestra and Sphinx musicians onstage to exchanges behind the scenes between Orchestra staff and the Sphinx's LEAD Cohort of arts administrators.
Dworkin, and the Sphinx Organization’s Manager of Ensemble Advancement and Artistic Engagement Bill Neri, as well as Sphinx Virtuosi violinist Emilia Mettenbrink, talked with us about the Sphinx Organization’s mission and the important ways in which they support Black and Latinx musicians’ advancement in the field.
