The American Rhapsody: A Concert for Minnesota

About this Concert:

Our Hear Into the Future week culminates in a vibrant program weaving together performances by student dancers, musicians and the Minnesota Orchestra, led by Osmo Vänskä.

We’ll feature North Community High School’s high-voltage dance troupe as well as all-star musicians from the MMEA All-State Orchestra and University of Minnesota Symphony Orchestra, playing alongside the Minnesota Orchestra. On the program: Excerpts from Brahms Symphony No. 2, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 7 and William Grant Still’s The American Scene, as well as Aaron Dworkin’s The American Rhapsody, a new multi-disciplinary work built on Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s evocative Symphonic Variations on an African Air.

Visit with Minnesota Orchestra and student musicians at a Community Meal before the concert. Meal tickets are $15 per person. You will be prompted to purchase a meal ticket during the concert ticket ordering process. If you have already purchased concert tickets and wish to add tickets for the community meal, call Ticket Services for assistance.
