Tao Plays Beethoven

Fri May 30 — Sat May 31, 2025

Orchestra Hall

~2 hours, including intermission

We regret to share that pianist Alice Sara Ott has had to withdraw from this weekend’s May 30-31 performances due to acute tendonitis, and we wish her all the best in her recuperation. We are pleased to welcome instead pianist Conrad Tao in his Minnesota Orchestra debut. He will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, rather than the previously slated Third Piano Concerto. Thank you for your understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

A Few Things to Know

  1. Conrad Tao’s 2024/25 season includes a return to Carnegie Hall in recital, as well as appearances with the San Francisco Symphony, the Dallas Symphony and St. Louis Symphony. Last season he made his subscription debut with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and reunited with the New York Philharmonic. We look forward to welcoming him to Minnesota.
  2. At 32 years old, Jonathon Heyward, who recently began his tenure as music director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, is currently the youngest music director of any major U.S. orchestra.
