In this “Fire and Water” program, the heat comes from a Dante-inspired ballet by Thomas Adès and Augustin Hadelich’s ability to make Prokofiev’s music sear itself into your consciousness. The water flows from Debussy’s childhood fascination with the sea and an orchestral interlude from Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes that deepens our understanding of the story and its characters.
