Jane Glover was 9 years old and in Lincoln Cathedral one Christmas when she was swept away after hearing Handel’s Messiah. She sees it as a defining moment in a life suffused with music…and Messiahs! At last count, she’d conducted over 120 performances of the holiday oratorio around the world. We welcome Dame Jane to Minneapolis this December.

The Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra, now in its second century, ranks among America’s top symphonic ensembles, with a distinguished history of acclaimed performances in its home state and around the world; award-winning recordings, broadcasts and educational engagement programs; and a commitment to commissioning and performing the music of our time. In September 2025, Danish conductor Thomas Søndergård began his third season as music director.
British conductor Jane Glover, named Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the 2021 New Year's Honours, has been Music of the Baroque's music director since 2002, and has just begun her tenure as principal guest conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony.
Recognized for her unique artistic curiosity in world-class performances spanning the music of Claudio Monteverdi and Georg Frideric Handel through to Missy Mazzoli and Sir George Benjamin, American Lauren Snouffer is celebrated as one of the most versatile and respected sopranos on the international stage.
The 2025-26 season for mezzo Clara Osowski includes performances with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra under Ken-David Masur in Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 and Bach's St. Matthew Passion, and with the Delaware Symphony Orchestra for Holidays at the Hotel. She sings Vivaldi cantatas and arias with the Bach Society of Minnesota, Mozart's Requiem with the Bach Society of St. Louis, and returns to the Schubert Club for both a Courtroom Concert and a recital tour of the U.K. Additional highlights include Bach's Christmas Oratorio with the Seattle Bach Festival and Boulanger songs with the University of Washington Orchestra.
Tenor Eric Ferring, a native of Dubuque, Iowa, graduated magna cum laude from Drake University with his bachelor of music in vocal performance and from the Boston Conservatory with his master of music in opera performance. He is a graduate of the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Ryan Opera Center and the Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist Program, a 2022 George London Foundation Award winner and the Top Prize Winner of the 2022 Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition.
In the 2025-26 season, American bass-baritone Michael Sumuel, lauded as having "vocals that are smooth and ingratiating" (Daily Camera), returns to the Metropolitan Opera as Papageno in Julie Taymor's The Magic Flute, sings Porgy in Porgy and Bess at Houston Grand Opera, and sings Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Achilla in Giulio Cesare at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as well as Alberich, a role debut in Wagner's complete Ring Cycle, also at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Concert highlights include Brahms' Requiem with the San Diego Symphony, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 at St. John the Divine in New York City for New Year's Eve.
The Minnesota Chorale has served as the Minnesota Orchestra’s principal chorus since 2004 and is now in its 29th season under the leadership of Kathy Saltzman Romey. Founded in 1972, the Chorale is Minnesota’s preeminent symphonic chorus, with a roster of over 200 singers. Best known for its work with the two major orchestras of the Twin Cities, the ensemble is equally dedicated to programs that build and enrich community. A seasoned artistic partner, the Chorale continues to explore new artistic directions and collaborative opportunities, while earning the highest critical acclaim for its work on the concert stage. In 2018, members of the Chorale traveled to South Africa to perform alongside the Minnesota Orchestra in its historic concerts in Soweto and Johannesburg.
