Music Director Thomas Søndergård is ill and unable to conduct the remainder of this weekend’s performances. We’re pleased to share that Chad Goodman will step in on short notice and conduct both the Friday and Saturday evening concerts.
As the 2023–24 season comes to a close, we’ll have plenty of reasons to celebrate: an extraordinary first season with Thomas Søndergård as our music director and the month-long Pride festivities here in Minneapolis and around the country. In a program close to Thomas’ heart, we invite you to join us for music by composers from the LGBTQ+ community, culminating with the fireworks of Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony.
Pianists Christina and Michelle Naughton will replace Francesco Piemontesi, who is recovering from a recent bicycle accident in which he was hit by a car and broke his collarbone. We wish him a full and speedy recovery. They will perform Francis Poulenc's Concerto in D minor for Two Pianos and Orchestra, instead of the previously scheduled Szymanowski Symphony No. 4 (Symphonie concertante) for Piano and Orchestra.
We exist of so many different emotions and colors within us... let's celebrate the colors.”
