Symphony Ball
The Minnesota Orchestra presents its annual gala on June 5, 2021, at 6:30 p.m.—the 64th Symphony Ball, Midsummer Melody. Inspired by the energy and joy of summer in Minnesota and in celebration of the entire Minnesota Orchestra family, this year’s Symphony Ball will be the Orchestra’s first-ever free gala, streaming on YouTube for anyone and everyone to experience from home.
Music Director Osmo Vänskä will conduct the Minnesota Orchestra in bright, enthusiastic musical selections by Sergei Prokofiev, José Pablo Moncayo, Felix Mendelssohn, Reinaldo Moya, Consuelo Velazquez and Duke Ellington, with Orchestra musician Charles Lazarus featured as trumpet soloist and Tommy Barbarella on piano. Principal Conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall Sarah Hicks will host the event, joined on screen by the Orchestra’s artistic partners, musicians, donors and leadership in what will be a visually stunning event like nothing the Orchestra has done before.
Symphony Ball, which is the Orchestra’s most significant annual fundraising event, is chaired this year by W. Anders Folk, Angela Pennington, Bill Miller and Katie Miller, with Gordy and Dee Sprenger serving as Honorary Chairs. Since 1956, the annual Symphony Ball has raised critical funds in support of the Minnesota Orchestra, its musicians and education programs. This year’s event will support the artistic excellence and award-winning education and community engagement programs of the Orchestra.
The 2021 Symphony Ball is free to all, but an RSVP is required. For more information and to sign up for details, visit minnesotaorchestra.org/symphonyball.
