The Wild Midwest: Season Finale
  • Jeremy Walker, piano
  • Bryan Nichols, piano
  • John Raymond, trumpet
  • Chris Thompson, saxophone
  • Brandon Wozniak, saxophone
  • Jeff Bailey, bass
  • JT Bates, drums

New Orleans invented it, Chicago expanded it, New York refined it—but the Midwest territory opened it up and taught it to swing.

Our home turf has a longstanding tradition of experimenting and innovating, from the traveling dance-combo territory bands to the blues-drenched independence of Chicago’s great state-chartered collective for supporting original music: the Association for the Advancement of Creative Musicians. Continuing this fluid, open tradition of earthy innovation, this concert brings together the largest AJE ensemble to date. Sparks will fly as Jeremy Walker combines the musicians from several incarnations of the AJE in a musical throwdown. Join us for a celebratory season finale that brings listeners fully into the present state of jazz with an evening of all-original music by Jeremy Walker and Bryan Nichols.
