Connecting musical inspirations from across the globe, this concert features invigorating drumming, music from the Minnesota Orchestra’s North Minneapolis Common Chords January 2019 residency week, and solos from noted South African soprano Goitsemang Lehobye, who joined the Orchestra on its South Africa tour last summer.

  • The Minnesota Orchestra's 2019 Common Chords residency featured more than 25 collaborative musical events in North Minneapolis, many showcasing Northside artists.
  • Soprano Goitsemang Lehobye was a featured soloist in the Orchestra’s 2018 South Africa tour honoring Nelson Mandela, the late Nobel Peace Prize-winning human rights advocate who was the first president of post-apartheid South Africa.
  • Shosholoza (“Go Forward”) is a traditional African miner song originally sung by workers traveling between Zimbabwe and South Africa.
  • Arrive early for concerts throughout the festival and enjoy our $5 Happy Hour along with food, fun and free entertainment.
