Hanna Landrum

Second Violin

Praised for her awareness and mature musicianship, Hanna Landrum has been sought after as a section leader for many orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Canton Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, Youngstown Symphony, Brevard Symphony, Firelands Symphony Orchestra, Saint Paul Civic Symphony, Bloomington Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Bach Ensemble, as well as regularly stepping in to perform with the Cleveland Orchestra and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra. With an adoration of orchestral playing showing from an early age, she has been honored to serve as a stand partner to such renowned concertmasters as William Preucil, Noah Bendix-Balgley and David Kim.

Landrum received both of her degrees from the acclaimed Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with former Louisville Symphony concertmaster David Updegraff and Cleveland Orchestra concertmaster William Preucil, in addition to working with Stephen Rose, Peter Salaff, Joel Smirnoff, Jun Iwasaki, and Jan Mark Sloman.

As a soloist, Landrum has performed with the National Repertory Orchestra, Canton Symphony, Firelands Symphony Orchestra and Killington Chamber Orchestra, and she has also been recognized as a “poised and joyful performer” by the Summit Daily News. As a chamber musician, Landrum was repeatedly selected as a participant in CIM’s competitive Intensive Quartet Seminar as well as their New Music Ensemble.

Since joining the Minnesota Orchestra, Landrum has performed locally as both soloist and chamber musician with members of the Minnesota Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as well as such renowned performers as Minnesota Orchestra favorite Jon Kimura Parker.

A native of Frontenac, Minnesota, Landrum received early musical instruction including chamber music studies with Tom Rosenberg and the Artaria Quartet, orchestral education with the Minnesota Youth Symphonies and Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, and private instruction with Brad Johnson, Mary West and, most significantly, the Minnesota Orchestra’s own Aaron Janse.
