Julian Orlishausen

Julian Orlishausen received his musical basic education at the Windsbacher Boy's Choir. He completed his singing studies with Prof. Endrik Wottrich at the Wuerzburg University of Music by numerous masterclasses with famous singers such as Cheryl Studer, Francisco Araiza, Grace Bumbry, Michael Volle and Edda Moser.

His successful debut at the opera Leipzig quickly resulted in numerous engagements at, among others, the Staatstheater Kassel, the Theater Chemnitz, the Vienna Volksoper and the Staatsoper Stuttgart, in roles like Marcello in "La Bohème" and Sharpless in "Madame Butterfly" by Puccini, Sid in "Albert Herring" by Britten, as Graf in "Der Wildschütz" by Lortzing as well as Don Giovanni in „Don Giovanni“ by Mozart and Wolfram in Wagner's „Tannhäuser“. He is also a regular guest of numerous festivals such as the International Gluck Opernfestival in Nuremberg and the Tyrolean Festival Erl.

Julian already appeared in numerous important concert halls, including the Philharmonie Bamberg, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Philharmonie am Gasteig Munich, the Konzerthaus and the Philharmonie Berlin. He worked with the orchestras of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Dresden Philharmonic, the orchestra of the State Opera Stuttgart, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphonic, the Kammervirtuosen Berlin, the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the German Symphony Orchestra (DSO) Berlin under conductors like Ulf Schirmer, Philippe Auguin , Frank Beermann, Rolf Beck, Michael Sanderling, Daniel Klajner, Rudolf Bibl, Lothar Koenigs and Gustav Kuhn.

Among the highlights of his previous appearances are his debuts at the Staatsoper Stuttgart with the "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen" by Gustav Mahler, as Vater in "Hänsel and Gretel" by Humperdinck and 1.Nazarener in "Salome" by Richard Strauss at Leipzig Opera, as well as his debut at Opéra National de Lyon as Tschang Ling in „Der Kreisdekreis“ von Zemlinsky conducted by Lothar Koenigs.

Since the 2018-19 season Julian is a permanent member of the ensemble of the Staatstheater Darmstadt where he can be seen as Renato in „Un ballo in maschera“ by Verdi, as Papageno in the „Magic Flute“ by Mozart, as Heerrufer in Wagner's „Lohengrin“ and as Enrico in „Lucia di Lammermoor“ by Donizetti. At Tyrolean Festival Erl 2019 he will appear as Ratefreund in Braunfels „Die Vögel“ under Lothar Zagrosek and in the spring of 2020 at the Opéra National de Lyon as Peter in a new production of Franz Schreker's opera "Irrelohe" directed by David Bösch.
