Minnesota Orchestra Names Carolyn Egeberg as Vice President of Advancement

The Minnesota Orchestra announced today that Carolyn Egeberg has been appointed as the organization’s Vice President of Advancement.

Egeberg, who most recently has held senior positions with the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundations and the Science Museum of Minnesota, begins her new role on February 7. Egeberg succeeds Dianne Brennan, who led the Orchestra’s fundraising efforts from 2014 until September 2018.

“Carolyn has a tremendous depth and breadth of fundraising experience in this community,” said Minnesota Orchestra President and CEO Michelle Miller Burns. “Additionally, her strategic thinking skills, connection to music, and business acumen make her a natural fit for this leadership position.”

Egeberg has served since 2016 as the Vice President of Strategy at the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundations, the state’s largest community foundation, where she led the evolution of its strategic plan. Prior to that, she held positions as Vice President of Development at both the Science Museum of Minnesota (2013-16), where she led the team in raising $10 million in annual funding, and at CaringBridge (2002-2013), where she grew the donor base to 100,000 donors. A native of Minnesota, Egeberg began her career as a software engineer, holding positions at 3M and ETA Systems, where she was part of the team that designed and engineered first generation Supercomputer software. She is a board member at the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, past President of the Minnesota Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves on the Ethics Committee of the International Association of Fundraising Professionals.

“As a life-long lover of music, I am inspired by the powerful change music can have on people’s lives,” said Egeberg. “It is such a privilege to now join an extraordinary organization whose mission is to serve the community through music. I am thrilled to be part of the Orchestra’s collaborative culture and to have the opportunity to work with its musicians, board and staff.”
