Minnesota Orchestra Presents Symphony Ball 2018: Sounds of the Cinema

Music Director Osmo Vänskä to conduct Symphony Ball performance at Orchestra Hall

The Orchestra’s largest annual fundraiser, held May 12 at Orchestra Hall, features the Minnesota Orchestra and guest performer jeremy messersmith

Chaired by Lloyd and Karen Kepple, the 2018 Symphony Ball celebrates the magic of music in the movies

The Minnesota Orchestra presents its annual premier gala on May 12, 2018. Inspired by the popularity of the Minnesota Orchestra’s Movies & Music series presenting popular films with the soundtracks performed live, the 2018 Symphony Ball, Sounds of the Cinema, celebrates the magic of music in the movies. Music Director Osmo Vänskä will conduct the Orchestra in a performance of music from the most memorable moments in movie history across a range of genres, plus a special performance by Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter jeremy messersmith. Following the full Orchestra concert, messersmith will also perform a solo set with his band in the auditorium at Orchestra Hall.

Tickets are now available, including those at the $75 Partier level. The Partier package includes a pre-concert cocktail hour with music by the Bryan Nichols Trio, access to the Minnesota Orchestra concert and jeremy messersmith’s performance, plus a post-concert party featuring movie trivia with Trivia Mafia, desserts, dancing and entertainment by dance band Synergy and DJ Ander Other. Partier tickets are only available for purchase until Tuesday, May 8.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Orchestra Hall and the Hilton Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. For more information and additional ticket options, see event details at the end of this press release or visit minnesotaorchestra.org/symphonyball.

This 62nd annual Ball, which is the Orchestra’s most significant annual fundraising event, is Chaired by Lloyd and Karen Kepple, with Dr. Stanley and Luella Goldberg serving as Honorary Chairs. Since 1956, the annual Symphony Ball has raised millions of dollars in support of the Minnesota Orchestra, its musicians and education programs. This year’s event will continue to raise critical funds to support the artistic excellence and award-winning education and community engagement programs of the Orchestra.
