Conductor Change: Conductor Perry So to Replace Han-Na Chang in Minnesota Orchestra Concerts This Week, March 16, 17 & 18

Program remains unchanged, including Beethoven’s Second Symphony and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with Simone Porter

Conductor Perry So will replace Han-Na Chang on the Minnesota Orchestra podium this week. Chang, who was to have made her Minnesota Orchestra conducting debut in concerts March 16 to 18, has had to withdraw from the performances due to illness. Perry So, who will also make his Minnesota Orchestra debut, will lead the previously-announced program with no alterations: Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with Simone Porter and Beethoven’s Second Symphony.

Perry So served as an inaugural Dudamel Conducting Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and has subsequently been a regular guest at both Walt Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. Following a four-year tenure at the Hong Kong Philharmonic―as assistant, then associate conductor―he led that orchestra with Lang Lang in an internationally-televised celebration of the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to China. So has made debuts recently with the Cleveland Orchestra and Houston, New Jersey, Israel and Vancouver Symphony Orchestras. This season he debuts with the Detroit Symphony and returns to the Royal Danish Opera for a production of George Balanchine’s ballet Jewels. More: harrisonparrott.com, perryso.com.
