Minnesota Orchestra's Second Season of "Symphony in 60" Launches with Stravinsky's Petrushka; Cristian Macelaru Conducts

Cristian Măcelaru conducts the Orchestra on Thursday, April 14, with a one-hour program featuring Stravinsky’s Petrushka and Bach’s Third Brandenburg Concerto

Optional activities are offered before and after “Symphony in 60” concerts, including a pre-concert happy hour at Orchestra Hall and an onstage gathering with Orchestra musicians immediately after the concert

The Minnesota Orchestra launches the second season of “Symphony in 60”—a series of classical concerts in a one-hour format, bookended by optional pre- and post-concert social activities—on Thursday, April 14. Guest conductor Cristian Măcelaru leads a program that includes Stravinsky’s Petrushka, a 20th-century score originally written for ballet that tells the tale of a lively group of puppets, and Bach’s sparkling Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, which features a small group of the Orchestra’s fine string musicians.

The evening begins at 7 p.m. with an optional happy hour at Orchestra Hall, which offers 50% off all beverages at lobby bars pre-concert. The concert program runs from approximately 8 to 9 p.m., with no intermission, and is followed immediately by a gathering which welcomes audience members onstage to meet and greet the Minnesota Orchestra musicians.

The concert is performed at the Orchestra’s home venue in downtown Minneapolis, Orchestra Hall, on Thursday, April 14, at 8 p.m., with single tickets priced at $29 for adults and $12 for children ages 6 and up. Subscriptions and individual tickets for all 2015-16 season concerts are available online at minnesotaorchestra.org and by phone at 612-371-5656.  For more details on purchasing tickets, refer to the information section at the conclusion of this press release.
