Under the baton of Philip Brunelle, the VocalEssence Chorus & Ensemble Singers present the Midwest premiere of Dominick Argento’s Evensong: Of Love and Angels, which is dedicated to the memory of the composer’s wife, Carolyn Bailey, an accomplished soprano. With its shimmering melodies and moving text, this intensely personal work for soprano, boy soprano, reader, chorus, and orchestra serves as an idyllic memorial. The VocalEssence Chorus & Ensemble Singers will also commemorate the 250th anniversary of Handel’s death with two exceptional works. Performed at every British coronation since 1727, Handel’s Zadok the Priest will be featured along with his exquisite Laudate Pueri (Psalm 113) for chorus and chamber orchestra, showcasing soprano Maria Jette.
The Orchestra Hall Box Office is pleased to provide ticketing services for the VocalEssence 2009-2010 Concert Season. The Minnesota Orchestra does not perform on this program. All artists, programs, dates and times subject to change. All sales are final; no refunds.
