Finland’s Esa Heikkilä, a former student of Music Director Osmo Vänskä, returns to Orchestra Hall for two concerts of spectacular music, featuring masterpieces by Mozart and a pair of Nordic composers. The program begins with Sibelius’ mysterious En Saga and closes with a musical postcard—Mozart’s Symphony No. 36, written amid his travels from Salzburg to Vienna. Also featured is beautiful music from Grieg’s Peer Gynt as well as classical music’s most famous serenade, Eine kleine Nachtmusik.
