Gina DiBello: even her name is musical. This phenomenal player, our principal second violin since fall 2008, chose Mozart's glittering Concerto No. 3 for her first solo appearance with the Orchestra. Conductor Laureate Stanislaw Skrowaczewski opens the program with the U.S. premiere of a composition featuring the Orchestra's superb wind players; he concludes with one of his specialties—Brahms' darkly brilliant Symphony No. 3.
