Aram Demirjian
is associate conductor
of the Kansas City Symphony, with which he
leads more than 60 performances each season,
including educational, casual and film music
concerts; this season he makes his Kansas City
subscription debut. His recent and upcoming
engagements include concerts with the
Omaha Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic
and Knoxville Symphony, where he is a finalist
for the post of music director. An avid opera
conductor, he has also collaborated with
artists ranging from Yo-Yo Ma to Ben Folds,
and he is a passionate advocate for music
education. Demirjian, who is of full Armenian
descent, is highly engaged in the Armenian

her mark as a singer,
pianist, composer,
lyricist, arranger,
actress, educator,
television host and
producer. In her most
recent performance
with the Minnesota
Orchestra, in 2010,
she starred in a
Broadway-themed
program. In tonight’s program, part of her “Streisand Songbook” tour
throughout the symphony world, she pays tribute to her legendary mentor
Barbra Streisand.
Callaway’s newest CD,
From Sassy to Divine: The Sarah Vaughan Project
,
earned rave reviews upon its release in September 2014. In additional
career highlights, she won the Theater World Award and received a Tony
Award nomination for her starring role in the Broadway musical
Swing!
She made her Hollywood screen debut in Robert De Niro’s

Shepherd
and was featured in the soundtrack of
Last Holiday
, starring
Queen Latifah. She has written more than 250 songs, including two
Platinum Award-winning hits for Streisand, as well as the theme for the
popular TV series
The Nanny
. She performs the critically acclaimed acts
“Sibling Revelry” and “Boom!” with Broadway star and sister Liz Callaway;
