British-American conductor
Sean Newhouse, now
making his Minnesota
Orchestra debut, has
conducted many prominent
orchestras in both North
America and Europe.
Recent, upcoming:
Highlights of his 2014-15 calendar include
a debut with the Tucson Symphony and a residency with the
Florentine Opera. In addition, he conducts the world premiere
of a song cycle by Patricia Leonard.
Orchestras:
In 2011 he drew acclaim for his last-minute
debut with the Boston Symphony, conducting Mahler’s
Ninth Symphony on two hours’ notice. He has also led such
ensembles as the Cleveland Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony,
Vancouver Symphony, France’s Orchestre Philharmonique de
Nice and the Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic in Germany.
He began his career as music director of the Young Musicians
Foundation Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles.
Opera:
He has served on the staff of both Boston Lyric Opera
and Glimmerglass Opera, and has conducted MetroWest Opera.
Honors:
Among his awards is the Aspen Conducting Prize.

Singer-actor Jake Endres
has appeared several
times with the Minnesota
Orchestra in recent seasons,
including as Speaker in
The
Magic Flute
, as Sciarrone
in
Tosca
and as a member
of the Street Chorus in Bernstein’s
Mass
. He also sang with the
Rose Ensemble in its debut with the Orchestra in December
2014.
Regional:
He has performed with such companies and
ensembles as the Guthrie Theater, Flying Foot Forum,
Children’s Theatre Company, History Theatre, G.R.E.A.T.
Theatre, Ten Thousand Things, Skylark Opera, Park Square
Theatre, Sapphire Chamber Consort and Paul Bunyan
Playhouse.
Upcoming:
He sings Argento’s
The Andrée Expedition
at a
Schubert Club Courtroom Concert in March 2015.
Of interest:
In addition to performing, Endres is active as a
music director and composer.
