Jim Lichtscheidl, now performing
with the Minnesota Orchestra for
the first time, is a Twin Cities-based
actor, director, choreographer and
instructor. He has recently contributed

The Music Man

Ten Thousand Things Theater;
Uncle
Vanya

Clybourne Park

Nice Fish
at the Guthrie Theater and

The Minnesota Chorale, now in its 19th
season under the leadership of Kathy
Saltzman Romey, is the Minnesota
Orchestra’s principal chorus and the
state’s preeminent symphonic chorus.

Samantha Fromm Haddow

costume designer
Samantha Fromm Haddow is the
Guthrie Theater millinery and costume
crafts artisan and painter/dyer. She has
also designed costumes locally for Lyric
Arts, Stages Theatre, and nationally for
the Gallery Players in New York, the
Honolulu Theatre for Youth and Timber
Lake Playhouse in Illinois. Upcoming
are productions of
Young Frankenstein
and
Blithe Spirit
with Lyric Arts, as well
as two shows with Stages Theatre:
Goodnight Moon
and
Disney’s
The Little Mermaid
.
Ann Gumpper
, set designer
Ann Gumpper has designed sets for
companies including the Minnesota
Ballet, University of Minnesota–Duluth
Opera and Theatre, Lake Superior
Community Theatre and Lyric Opera of
the North. Her work was also recently
seen in Skylark Opera’s performances of
Candide
and
From Berlin to Broadway
.
Beyond Minnesota, she has designed
or painted for institutions ranging from
the Shakespeare Festival in Madison,
New Jersey, to the Northcott Theatre in
Exeter, England.
Calland Metts
, technical director
and props
Calland Metts serves as co-artistic
director of Duluth-based Lyric Opera
of the North (LOON), as well as that
company’s head carpenter and technical
director. He has constructed sets for
numerous LOON productions and
created scenery for two recent shows
with Skylark Opera. He and set designer
Ann Gumpper collaborate as the Lyric
Opera of the North Scenic Shop. Metts
studied at Northwestern University,
earning an artist’s diploma and a
master’s degree in opera performance.
Robert Neu
, stage director
Robert Neu has directed more than 60
productions of operas, musicals and
plays in the Twin Cities and around the
country. For the Minnesota Orchestra,
he has directed productions of
Candide
,
Fidelio
,
Tosca
,
Carmen
,
La Bohème
,
Peer Gynt
(for which he also co-wrote
the adaptation), Bernstein’s
Mass
,
Hansel and Gretel
,
La Traviata
and
The Magic Flute
. He recently directed
Candide
for Skylark Opera and
Don
Pasquale
for Lyric Opera of the North.
Among his upcoming productions are
Tosca
for the Colorado Symphony and
Death of a Salesman
for Bloomington
Civic Theatre. Neu, a graduate of the
Juilliard School, teaches master classes
in audition techniques for the University
of Minnesota’s opera department and is
a resident director at Lyric Arts Theater.
