Lewis, the Minnesota
Orchestra’s associate
conductor since 2010,
has worked with
orchestras and chamber
ensembles on three
continents. This season,
in addition to leading several Young People’s and
family concerts, he will appear on the Orchestra’s
classical series in concerts that include Mahler’s
Fifth Symphony. He has been appointed assistant
conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra,
a position he will assume in fall 2014. In addition to
guest conducting in the U.S. and abroad, he directs
Boston’s Discovery Ensemble, which he founded.
He was one of four conductors worldwide selected
to participate in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s
2011-12 Dudamel Fellowship program. More:

at today’s concerts, has
received wide acclaim
and earned her a 2012 McKnight Fellowship
for Children’s Literature. Since her first book,
, was published to acclaim in 1994, she has
illustrated and written many award-winning picture
books. She has also exhibited her paintings and
sculptures in museums and galleries throughout
the country. Applying her skills in yet another area,
she writes scripts and designs sets for Circus
