Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of music file do you provide?
Minnesota Orchestra's digital music downloads are available in MP3 format—the most widely compatible music file format supported by most media player applications, hand-held music devices, and some CD and DVD players. We encode our files at 256 kilobits per second (kbps). Our files are free of digital rights management (DRM) software, so you can burn your music to CDs, play on all your computers, and transfer to all your devices.
I submitted the registration form for free music; now how do I download the file?
The link to the download is found in an e-mail that we sent to you after submitting the form. If you did not receive an e-mail from the Minnesota Orchestra, please check your spam folders as the e-mail may have been blocked. We recommend that you mark the Minnesota Orchestra address "

I purchased a Season Pass, but did not receive an e-mail with links to the music downloads.
If you purchased a Season Pass, you should have received a confirmation e-mail for your order. You will receive an e-mail that includes download links within ten business days after each program included in your Season Pass package. You will receive your first e-mail with download links on October 6, 2011 when the first live performance from the 2011-12 season is available. I received the e-mail; how do I download files?
First, click on the download link in the e-mail you received. You'll be brought to a web page with a prominent "Download Recording" link. Using your mouse, right-click (or on a Mac, option-click) the link and select the option from the pop-up menu that allows you to save the file to your computer. Be sure to take note of where on your computer you have saved the file. Go to your favorite music player (for example, iTunes or Windows Media Player) and open the file you just downloaded. If you would like to download all the files at once in a ZIP archive, use the link provided at the bottom of each file group. You will need an un-ZIP utility program to extract the files.
What is a ZIP file and how does it work?
A ZIP file is a single file that contains a set of compressed files, such as MP3s, that enables you to download a number of files to your computer faster and more efficiently. To open a ZIP file, you will need an unZIPing utility. Most computers already have one installed; you will simply need to double-click on the ZIP file to open it. If you don't have an unZIPing utility installed, simply search online for "free unZIP utility" and you will be able to download the utility to your computer and install it.
I lost the e-mail you sent me. How can I access to the download link?
