"New Orleans—a place where preservation meets passion and diversity creates culture, a place of souls and senses."
Irvin Mayfield, A Love Letter to New Orleans

A Love Letter to New Orleans, Irvin Mayfield’s book and CD of the same name, is an intimate reflection on the many influences that led the talented young kid from New Orleans to become one of his generation’s greatest jazz trumpeters. Hosted by journalist Soledad O’Brien, Mayfield’s friend and contributor of the book’s foreword, this magical evening includes a cast of guest musicians—true New Orleans royalty—performing music from the CD, an inspired revelation of Mayfield's journey as an artist.

Please note: the Minnesota Orchestra does not perform on this program.
