Mark Wigglesworth electrifies both audience and Orchestra whenever he takes the podium. He hails from the English countryside, so you’re assured a marvelous performance of the rhapsodic Oboe Concerto of his compatriot, Michael Berkeley—the godson, both literally and musically, of Benjamin Britten. To cap the night, a rare complete performance of Ravel’s masterpiece, the ballet Daphnis and Chloe.
