The incomparable Stephen Hough reprises his acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra collaboration in Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1—which drew raves in our landmark 2009 recording. His finger work is stunning, and his athletic performance of Tchaikovsky’s infamous octaves brings audiences to their feet. Add Nielsen’s magical Third Symphony, with its colossal energy and vast harmonic landscapes, and it’s easy to see why this is the program Carnegie Hall requested for the Orchestra’s annual visit this year!
