Description

GREENSTEIN Acadia [World Premiere]

Here’s collaborative art in its purest form—the Musical MicroCommission, a one-of-a-kind project that brings music lovers closer to the music than ever by engaging them in the process of commissioning a new symphonic work. Donations of all sizes played a role in bringing to life Acadia—a brand new work by New York-based composer Judd Greenstein. Don't miss an onstage appearance by Judd, who will be here to talk about the exciting process!

Learn more about the project here.

Please note: the first half of this event will be filmed and projected on a large onstage screen to enhance your experience. After intermission, the orchestra will perform Acadia in its entirety.

A fun and fresh guide to understanding the music.
With lively discussion and shared musical insights, Sam and Sarah lead audiences through a fun and fresh exploration of the music during the first half of the concert, followed by a full performance of the featured work after intermission. Learn more about Inside the Classics »

A Musical Microcommission
The Minnesota Orchestra launched our first Musical MicroCommission—an initiative to bring a new work by American composer Judd Greenstein to the stage of Orchestra Hall—with funding from hundreds of "micro" donations from music lovers across Minnesota and beyond. Judd will join conductor Sarah Hicks and host Sam Bergman for the world premiere at these concerts for an illuminating look at the piece during the first half, followed by a complete performance after intermission. In the months leading up to the premiere, you'll have the chance to connect with Judd and hear about his progress through our Inside the Classics blog.
