Behind-the-Scenes Event –
The Art of Conducting

WED MAR 11 6PM-8PM
Orchestra Hall – Onstage
Complimentary for Crescendo Project Members*

What do conductors do, and how do they do it? Join the Crescendo Project as Sarah Hicks, assistant conductor of the Minnesota Orchestra, shares with us the art of conducting – from the basics of time signatures to more subtle aspects of leading group musicianship.

The event will include history of conducting, a participatory introduction to conducting basics, and an opportunity for a few attendees to try their hands at conducting a quartet of Minnesota Orchestra musicians. The conducting session will take place onstage at Orchestra Hall, so even if you do not conduct, you will get to see and hear the action from the musicians' point of view!

Does leading a group of professional musicians tend to make you... thirsty? Receptions before and after the workshop will give opportunities to mingle with fellow members and enjoy refreshments.
