Join us for a night of Mendelssohn performed by the Minnesota Orchestra, including the composer's famous Symphony No. 4, Italian. You'll enjoy:
6 PM – Pre-concert hors d'oeuvres and hosted bar on the Tier Drop of Orchestra Hall... or is it an Italian piazza?
7:30PM – Great main floor seating together for the concert
9:30PM – Post-concert dessert and wine reception at Porter & Frye with members of the Minnesota Orchestra
Mendelssohn began composing when he was 10 and astonished the world with the overture to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream when he was 17. We'll explore all of that and more in the first half of the program, including elements of his remarkable string Octet, composed at age 16. After intermission, you'll hear his Symphony No. 4 in its entirety – a piece that epitomizes his elegant style and became one of his best known works.
Impress your friends with your musical knowledge before the concert – check out insidetheclassics.org, including Sam and Sarah's ever-popular blog.
