Beethoven Symphony 7, Piano Concertos 1 & 2

BEETHOVEN
Piano Concerto No. 1
Piano Concerto No. 2
Symphony No. 7

The Orchestra’s three-week Beethoven Marathon continues with the superbly gifted Yevgeny Sudbin performing two piano concertos in one evening—a feat not unlike back-to-back climbs of Everest and K2—as he balances athletic strength and virtuosity with the soul and keyboard touch of a poet.

To send you dancing into the evening air, the program concludes with the whirling joy of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Osmo Vänskä likens the Seventh’s cascading excitement to early rock ’n’ roll—and that abandon has led the Vänskä/Minnesota Orchestra interpretation to international acclaim.
