A Winter’s Tale: New World Symphony

LARSSON
A Winter’s Tale

TCHAIKOVSKY
Violin Concerto

DVOŘÁK
Symphony No. 9, From the New World

A lyrical Scandinavian take on Shakespeare opens the concert: utterly charming, sweetly pastoral music by the Swede Lars-Erik Larsson, inspired by the Bard’s late-period romance. Augustin Hadelich solos in the majestic Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. Hailed for his gorgeous sound, this young German virtuoso will bring out all the depth and emotion of Tchaikovsky's masterpiece. Our British-Swedish-Russian-German connections finally lead us home — to the stirring New World Symphony of Dvořák, a wonderful showpiece for the Orchestra.

“All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts...”

— Shakespeare, As You Like It
