Common Chords: Willmar

About This Concert:

The Minnesota Orchestra embarks on a three-city Minnesota Tour, visiting Willmar, Bemidji and Grand Rapids to offer concerts and educational activities.

The Minnesota Orchestra returns for its first performance in Willmar since 2012, when it collaborated with a Willmar-area community steering committee to create a week-long Common Chords residency. Led by Associate Conductor Roderick Cox, the ensemble now returns to perform Brahms’ lively Academic Festival Overture, Mozart’s sublime Symphony No. 39 and Tchaikovsky’s powerful Symphony No. 4.

BRAHMS
Academic Festival Overture, Opus 80

MOZART
Symphony No. 39 in E-flat major, K. 543

TCHAIKOVSKY
Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Opus 36

In addition to the public evening performance, an ensemble of musicians will meet with Willmar-area high school music students on Tuesday, May 16.

Tickets, priced at $15, are available at Whitney Music, Cash Wise, and YFC. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
