This esteemed German artist brings to the podium a lifetime of passionate, painstaking study of Brahms' gorgeous German Requiem. Brahms, writing in the days after his mother's death, filled this work with both serene beauty and earthy, riveting choruses. The concert begins with Rilling's special lecture-demonstration with the Orchestra and Chorale, illuminating the subtleties and life-affirming messages in Brahms' masterwork.

A German Requiem for Windows

When: 8:30-10:30pm
Where: Target Atrium
An in situ performance with Berlin-based artist Marit Neeb in response to the simultaneous performance of Brahms' German Requiem in the Auditorium. The singing-voice-based window piece resonating Brahms' opus will be visible inside and outside the Atrium, creating a situational relationship with the audience on both sides of the windows.
